In case you haven’t heard, March is Taste Washington Wine Month, and we’re celebrating with a fantastic new featured winery: Welcome Road. Elemental Pizza is showcasing the winery’s red and white blends, both bearing the name, ‘Roadtrip’. In fact, we’re the first restaurant to offer Welcome Road’s wonderful wines.
Roadtrip Red: Smooth & Bold
The 2012 Roadtrip Red is a Bordeaux-style blend made with:
Cabernet Franc
Malbec
Cabernet Sauvignon
Merlot
It’s easy to drink, and they probably named it ‘Roadtrip’ because, as the winemaker says, “[it] goes everywhere you do!” Think primarily fruit with just a touch of smoke, spice, and light tannins.
This companionable wine is star-studded in addition to being highly drinkable – it won a Gold Medal at the Tri-Cities Wine Festival in 2014. It goes terrifically with our handmade pizza!
Roadtrip White: Bright & Crisp
Looking for something on the lighter side? The Roadtrip White is a dry, refreshing white blend with:
Roussanne
Viognier
Semillon
Marsanne
With a lively acidity and notes of citrus, this wine is medium-bodied, smooth, and incredibly food-friendly.
Ideal match: Pair it with veggie-forward pizzas like the Green Goddess for a crisp, refreshing combo.
